The Testimony of Patience Kershaw

Last year, I was fortunate enough to be asked to write about the history of one of my favourite folk songs, The Testimony of Patience Kershaw, by the popular online magazine Velvet Sheep. The song was made famous by The Unthanks, but was actually written in the 1960s and based on a real government report from the 19th century. Though it was partly to highlight the release of my own first solo 7" single, the story was a labour of love and stands of its own accord – you can read and listen to it here.
